Bromsgrove District Housing Trust appoints director of resources

Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) has appointed Lisa Martin (pictured) as its new director of resources.

She joins from Elim Housing Association, where she was group finance director for four years and director of resources for just over two.

Martin has more than 30 years’ finance experience and over 20 years in social housing.

She will lead a team of 20, responsible for finance, IT and governance.

Martin said: “I’m fundamentally responsible for the financial management of BDHT and making sure we meet all of our legal and regulatory requirements and continue to be a financially viable and well governed organisation.

“This includes leading BDHT’s digitalisation journey and ensuring all of our IT systems are working efficiently and effectively and that we are operating in line with the latest legal requirements.

“There’s a lot happening within the sector right now, especially since the change in Government.

Martin added: “The pace of industry developments is rapid, and it’s essential we are clear about what the current national priorities are, how they are filtering down and shaping our ongoing transformation agenda and future direction, and the financial implications of it all.

“It’s crucial we deliver the right priorities in the right order and that we are meeting our legal obligations at all times.”

She will review and refine processes and implement a business plan and governance framework to support financial and strategic decisions.

She said: “There’s always scope for us to continuously improve our systems and reporting.

“One area I’m keen to build upon is our use of real-time data, which means we can access key insights the minute we need them.”

“Taking real-time snapshots of our financial landscape, means we can be more proactive and make more informed decisions without having to wait for a month-end financial report to be created.”

She added: “Further embracing tech will help us achieve greater clarity on the financial viability of everything we do and, more importantly, make sure we deliver the best possible outcomes for our tenants.”
