Pepper Money expands wellness events to support broker wellbeing

Pepper Money is continuing to prioritise broker wellbeing through its ‘Be More You’ Retreat series, offering mindfulness and self-care events across the UK mortgage market.

The specialist lender held its second Retreat of the year in London, with further activities planned for exhibitions later in 2025.

Attendance across the series is expected to more than triple compared to last year, reflecting growing broker demand for practical mental health support.

The events feature keynote speakers, guided sessions, and open Q&As addressing the pressures faced by intermediaries.

Attendees at Retreat South heard from Jane Benjamin, representing the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC) and director of mortgages at Connect for Intermediaries, as well as Emma Harris, CEO of Glow and founder of the Slow the F**k Down Movement. Breathwork coach Jessie Laute also led a session on stress reduction techniques.

Benjamin said: “This Retreat was an amazing opportunity to network with peers. As a profession, we face so many pressures and challenges that it often feels like you are very alone, so it was fantastic to gather together with colleagues from the broker community.

“The event provided a welcoming space to share our personal stories, as well as practical, hands-on tips to combat stress and restore balance.

“It’s refreshing for a lender to put brokers’ mental health first, and I’m hoping the event will be a catalyst for people like me to achieve a better work-life balance.”

Martin Stewart, founder of London Money, added: “Pepper Money’s Retreat was a breath of fresh air.

“It provided a welcome opportunity for property finance professionals to de-stress and put our own wellbeing first – all too rare in the fast-paced industry, where too many feel overstretched and burnt-out.

“Emma’s keynote was powerful and deeply resonant, and the day provided a fantastic range of practical, hands-on self-care tips.”

Paul Adams, sales director at Pepper Money, said: “At Pepper Money, we established the Retreat events to champion brokers, showing them that we value them as individuals and understand the pressures they face.

“The Retreat South event centred on the wellbeing of brokers, with actionable self-care advice for professionals who face a hectic daily routine, encouraging them to step back, reflect and reconnect.”

The lender plans to expand the series with new events and will feature Retreat speakers in upcoming episodes of its podcast, hosted by Rob Barnard.
