Gen H appoints Jess Bateson and Olivia Sturla to broker-focused growth roles

Gen H has strengthened its intermediary growth function with the appointment of Jess Bateson as interim head of growth and Olivia Sturla as broker specialist, reflecting continued investment in broker experience following its move to intermediary-only lending earlier this year.

Bateson joins on a one-year basis to cover Leanne Sarjant’s maternity leave and brings experience from fintech mortgage brokerage Koodoo, where she was commercial and operations director.

Prior to that, she spent eight years in derivatives trading at Goldman Sachs.

Sturla takes up a permanent position to support Gen H’s business development team and brings direct experience from mortgage advisory roles at Hamptons, Capital Private Finance and Alexander Hall.

The appointments come as Gen H reports strong engagement from its broker network, with more than 22,000 brokers now registered.

The lender said it maintains a two-minute average wait time on broker calls, an 8.2% missed call rate and a 100% same-day callback rate.

Sarjant, outgoing head of growth at Gen H, said: “As I step away from the business for a year, I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Jess and Olivia into our ranks.

“I am confident in our team’s ability to continue delivering best-in-class service, whether a broker has used us before or they’re just trying us out.

“Gen H are developing a completely new approach to mortgage lending, and with the support of our outstanding broker panel – now 22,000+ strong – we’re having the impact we’ve always dreamed of: helping thousands of people realise their dreams of homeownership.”
