Mercantile Trust signs Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter

Mercantile Trust has signed the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC), reinforcing its commitment to supporting the mental wellbeing of professionals across the mortgage sector.

The MIMHC is a not-for-profit initiative that provides a framework for UK mortgage firms to improve mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

It offers a set of principles that organisations can adopt and adapt to create healthier, more supportive working environments.

By signing, companies commit to six pledges including: raising awareness, supporting open conversations, promoting healthy working conditions, effective line management, regular monitoring of wellbeing, and providing a named contact for mental health support.

Shideh Mirashrafi, marketing manager at Mercantile Trust, said: “At Mercantile Trust, people are at the heart of everything we do.

“We understand that life can be challenging and that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.

“Our relationships with partners, customers, and colleagues are built on care and understanding — both inside and outside the workplace.

“We strive to create a warm, inclusive, and positive working environment, where our team can thrive and enjoy their time at work.

“To further support our colleagues during difficult times, we also provide private health insurance with Bupa, which includes comprehensive mental health cover.

“Signing the MIMHC reflects our ongoing dedication to fostering a healthier workplace culture and promoting open conversations around mental well-being.

“We believe that by following the Charter’s guidance and taking part in its events and initiatives, we can continue to enhance the support we provide and create an even better environment for our colleagues.”
