The Property Ombudsman appoints three new non-executive directors

The Property Ombudsman (TPO) has appointed three non-executive directors to its Board. Carlos Thibaut, Jennifer Ryans and Zahir Mamujee bring extensive experience in business development, dispute resolution and property management.

Thibaut is a non-executive director, consultant and senior executive with more than 32 years’ experience in business development, IT and people.

He also serves as a non-executive director of the Society of Mortgage Professionals, having previously chaired the body.

He is a trustee and chair of the investment and sustainability committee of St Martin of Tours Housing Association and a director at Catch Technology Group.

He has held senior positions at Legal & General, served as a non-executive director on several of its subsidiaries, and contributed to committees covering strategy, technology and regulation.

Ryans is a solicitor with senior leadership experience in dispute resolution, Ombudsman casework and public sector services.

She has held roles including deputy chief operating officer (casework) at the Pensions Ombudsman and head of dispute resolution at the Housing Ombudsman Service.

Earlier, she served as head of dispute support, dispute resolution manager and adjudicator at the Housing Ombudsman Service, and as a senior estate manager at the London Borough of Wandsworth.

She also worked as a volunteer legal assistant at anti-poverty charity Z2K and as an adjudicator at the Financial Ombudsman.

Mamujee has more than 20 years’ experience in lettings and property management, having successfully run a lettings agency managing large residential portfolios in the East Midlands and London.

He later founded and now leads a private equity fund focusing on development projects and the care sector. He is currently a board member of the Attenborough Learning Trust, supporting its expansion to nine schools, and has previously held governance roles with Sanctuary Housing Group and ASRA Midlands Housing Association.

As non-executive directors, they will provide strategic insight and advice to support the Board.

Chair of the Board, Claire Bassett (pictured), said: “I am delighted to welcome Carlos, Jennifer and Zahir to the Board.

“They join us at an exciting time as we continue to focus on improving the service that both consumers and businesses receive.

“They have extensive experience across the property, business and Ombudsman landscapes which will be invaluable to TPO’s work.”
