Liverpool City Council has agreed a deal with West Tree Estates to take back control of properties on Ducie Street and Jermyn Street in Liverpool 8.
The focus now is on delivering affordable, good quality homes and public space improvements for the area as soon as possible.
The agreement also covers land at Rosebery Street and secures the future of 143 Granby Street.
This deal ends a long period of uncertainty over the sites and lets the council get started on improvements for the area.
Liverpool City Council and West Tree Estates said: “Liverpool City Council and West Tree Estates Limited are pleased to report that after lengthy negotiations they have resolved all of their outstanding disputes relating to various properties in the L8 area.
“The terms of settlement remain confidential to the parties but include the withdrawal of the forfeiture notices served by Liverpool City Council and the voluntary formal surrender of various leases by West Tree Estates Limited to Liverpool City Council.
“This agreement is in full and final settlement of all claims between the parties. West Tree Estates Limited wishes the local community well for the future.”
The council will now secure the sites with hoardings, remove a diseased tree, and clear fly-tipping.
After that, there will be inspections and engagement with residents and community groups to plan the next steps.
Liverpool City Council said it will work with the community and local partners to create family homes and safer neighbourhoods.
The council plans to move quickly to deliver positive changes for the area.
