Santander launches online tool to help homeowners cut energy costs

Santander UK has launched a new Home Energy Saving Tool designed to help homeowners assess their property’s energy efficiency and identify improvements that could reduce future household bills.

Developed in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust (EST), the tool aims to provide a personalised action plan after a short online assessment that takes around six minutes to complete.

Using details such as postcode and property type, it calculates estimated improvement costs, potential annual savings on energy bills, and the home’s current and projected Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating and carbon emissions.

Santander said the initiative aims to give homeowners greater clarity on the financial benefits of energy upgrades.

Research by the bank found that 53% of homeowners would be more likely to make energy efficiency improvements if they understood the long-term savings they could achieve on household bills.

The Home Energy Saving Tool is now available via Santander’s website.

Mick Taylor, head of green finance, homes at Santander, said the launch comes at a time when rising energy costs are prompting more households to look for practical ways to cut spending.

He added: “Our new tool quickly highlights where homeowners can invest their time and money to improve the energy efficiency of their property, as well as what the impact of those improvements would be in pounds and pence to their annual energy costs in future
