Windsor named most difficult area for FTBs to save for a deposit – Pepper Money

Windsor topped the list as the hardest place to save for a deposit, with first-time buyers (FTBs) needing 22 years to save a deposit, research from Pepper Money found.

The average home there costs £586,184, against a median salary of £39,832.

Altrincham and Wilmslow, both in the North West, followed at 21 and 20 years.

London (City) and North Berwick also required up to 19 years.

More affordable places were found in Scotland and the North.

Buyers in Paisley, North Lanarkshire and Cumbernauld would need just six years to save a deposit, with Blackpool the only English town to match this.

Motherwell required seven years.

Commuter towns such as Stockport, Reading, Luton and Basingstoke fell in the middle, with saving times of 12 to 14 years.

Bristol was also in this group.
