The Association for Rental Living (ARL) held its 10th Rental Living Annual Conference on 6th November 2025 at One Canada Square, Canary Wharf.
More than 400 delegates from over 100 businesses attended.
The event ran two conferences side by side: the Strategic Rental Living Conference and the new NextGen Pathways Conference for early-career professionals.
The opening keynote focused on building safety in the build-to-rent sector.
Peter Clark from Ark Workplace Risk, Stacey Patten from Invesco, and Nicky Barker from KKR spoke on how the sector was addressing issues around competence, insurance and viability.
Ashley Perry from Apache moderated, with a video message from Dame Judith Hackitt.
Dr Nero Ughwujabo from the King’s Trust spoke about equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)in business, culture and geopolitics.
Brendan Geraghty from the ARL, Alex Notay from Radix Big Tent Housing Commission, Rebecca Taylor from Long Harbour, Danielle Bayless from Quintain and Kate Butler from British Property Federation (BPF) discussed the code of practice and the need to change attitudes among politicians, local authorities and the public towards build-to-rent.
Sessions at the Strategic Rental Living Conference included topics such as build-to-rent in Scotland, new operational benchmark data, later living, and BTR development and investment.
Placemaking and the Renters’ Rights Act were discussed.
Breakout sessions looked at the impact of tech on rental living and ways to reduce residential voids.
Geraghty said: “With so many investors, operators, developers, suppliers and advisors from across the rental living sector ecosystem coming together to explore key issues, challenges and opportunities, the 10th Annual Conference was a timely reminder of the strength, innovation and future potential of the sector.
“The inaugural NextGen Pathways Conference was also a superb opportunity for the sector’s future leaders to learn, network and engage, demonstrating the bright future of rental living.”
