Fareham Housing has been awarded £176,000 from the Council Housebuilding Support Fund to help deliver future affordable homes in the Borough.
The council is one of 29 local authorities to receive the grant, which is intended to support affordable housing projects.
Fareham Housing will use the funding to make the most of its land assets by planning a pipeline of sites for new affordable homes.
The money will also go towards finding opportunities in areas with the greatest need, looking at options for bespoke housing such as disabled-adapted homes, and speeding up projects already in progress.
Further grants toward building new council homes will become available through a £39bn programme delivered by Homes England.
Councillor Fred Birkett, Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council, said: “I am delighted that we have been awarded £176,000 from the CHSF fund to help us deliver future affordable housing in Fareham.
“Fareham Council is committed to using its own sites to continue to deliver a mix of affordable homes across the Borough and this funding will help us to identify the best sites where this can be achieved.
“I am extremely proud of our recent developments which have taken outdated or underused sites and transformed them into beautiful modern homes which are energy efficient, fit for purpose and available at affordable rates.”
