WNC secures Govt funding to speed up delivery of affordable homes

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has secured £300,000 from the Government’s Council Housebuilding Support Fund (CHSF) to help speed up the delivery of affordable homes across the area.

The funding is the maximum amount available and will be used to increase the supply of affordable homes, support regeneration in local communities and make sure housing growth matches the needs of local residents.

WNC will spend the money on building a pipeline of future housing schemes, looking for suitable land, speeding up design and feasibility work, bringing in specialist staff and expert advice, and investing in officer training to boost skills in delivering new homes.

Councillor Charlie Hastie, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at WNC, said: “We’re really pleased to have secured the maximum funding available through this programme.

“This investment will help us strengthen our capacity and expertise so that we can bring forward more affordable homes for local people, faster.

“As demand for affordable homes continues to grow, this funding will play a key role in helping us deliver high-quality, sustainable homes that meet the needs of our residents and communities across West Northamptonshire and is an important step in ensuring we are well prepared to make the most of future Government funding opportunities and deliver the right homes in the right places.”
