Atom bank has been officially certified as a Great Place to Work®, achieving a Trust Index™ Score of 82, following a year of significant investment in workplace culture and people-focused initiatives.
The certification reflects the bank’s commitment to building an inclusive and supportive environment as it continues to expand its presence in the North East.
The recognition comes as Atom embeds a series of major changes, including the relocation of its near 600-strong workforce to The Pattern Shop in Newcastle.
The new headquarters is designed to support recruitment, onboarding, training and cross-team collaboration, while preserving the fully flexible working practices the bank has maintained in recent years.
Atom has continued to challenge traditional working patterns, having introduced a four-day working week with no loss of pay in 2021.
The shift has become a core part of its workplace offer and, according to the bank, has had a positive impact on employee wellbeing and retention.
The bank has also enhanced its family leave policies and broadened its inclusion-focused initiatives, introducing Menopause Champions and establishing the Atom Women’s Network, which now has more than 100 members.
Over the past 12 months, Atom has added 57 new employees, including eight graduate trainees, while making 62 internal promotions and role changes and completing 26 secondments.
Helen Wilson, chief operations officer at Atom bank, said: “Achieving the Great Place to Work® certification is a fantastic milestone that truly reflects the dedication and passion of our entire team.
“We are committed to making Atom a workplace where everyone can thrive, and this certification validates the substantial steps we have taken over the last year.
“From investments in colleagues to opening our amazing new HQ in the heart of Newcastle, we are continually evolving to ensure Atom remains a truly great place to start and build a career right here in the north east.”
