Karbon Homes signs LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge to boost inclusion in the North East

Karbon Homes has become the first organisation in the North East to sign the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, delivered by Stonewall Housing and HouseProud.

The pledge sets out a framework for social housing providers to support LGBTQ+ residents and make housing more inclusive.

By signing the pledge, Karbon Homes has committed to taking part in LGBTQ+ events with colleagues and customers, creating initiatives to promote LGBTQ+ visibility and sharing updates through its website, social media, customer magazine and newsletters.

The pledge will also form part of colleague induction and training.

The organisation already runs a pride inclusion hub and is involved with Northern Pride.

The new pledge builds on these activities.

Di Keller, strategic equality diversity and inclusion lead at Karbon Homes, said: “Signing the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge is an important milestone for Karbon Homes.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and valued in their home, and this pledge reinforces our commitment to creating inclusive communities where people can truly be themselves.

“We’re proud to lead the way in the North East and look forward to working with our colleagues, customers and partners to make a real difference.”

Karbon Homes will be sharing further updates on LGBTQ+ inclusion in the coming months.

An online event to discuss the pledge is scheduled for 10th December between 12.30 and 1.30pm, hosted by Positive About Inclusion, Stonewall Housing and Karbon Homes.
