Broomhill named most popular area for home movers in Sheffield, data reveals
Analysis from Compare My Move found average house prices in Broomhill stood at £366,481 with average rent at £908 per month.
Broomhill was named Sheffield’s most popular place to live in 2025, according to analysis from Compare My Move.
Broomhill drew the largest share of movers at 10%, the highest proportion in the city, and saw a 24% year-on-year rise.

Woodseats took second place with 9.4% of movers and a 23% increase compared to the previous year.
Hillsborough followed with 9.3% but saw a 16% drop in movers.
Manor, Sheffield City Centre, Chapeltown, Ecclesall, Stocksbridge, Swallownest, and Mosborough made up the rest of the top 10.
Dave Sayce, co-founder and managing director of Compare My Move, said: “Broomhill has a lot going for it as a place to live.
“It offers a residential feel while staying closely connected to the city centre, and it also has its own bars, restaurants and entertainment.
“However, I think its biggest advantage is its location near the university and the hospital.”
Sayce added: “There is a steady influx of students each year, and both institutions are major employers, so it makes sense that many people want to live close to where they study or work.
“While Broomhill’s location helps explain why it has become Sheffield’s most popular place to move to, the year-on-year rise in movers may also be linked to falling house prices.
“Rightmove has reported an annual dip in prices, which may have encouraged more buyers to enter the market.”
He said: “If demand continues to grow, Broomhill property prices could rise again in 2026, so anyone thinking about buying in the area may want to act sooner rather than later.”
