PlannerPal has rolled out a video analysis tool for its Meeting Notes feature, designed for financial advisers and wealth managers.

The tool extracts structured data from documents shown in meetings, such as investment presentations and cash flow models, and provides a full summary of what was discussed and shown, not just the spoken word.

The new feature came in response to demand from advisers, as meetings have become more visual.

The video analysis sits within PlannerPal’s meeting note framework, which can be tailored to fit a firm’s workflow and data needs.

It works with other inputs like customer relationship management (CRM) cross-checking, which matches notes with live data from systems such as Iress Xplan and Intelliflo, to help cut errors and improve data quality.

Mark Whitcroft, CEO and co-founder of PlannerPal, said: “There is no shortage of generic meeting note takers on the market.

“However, they largely generate summaries from transcripts, missing what is shown on screen during the meeting and anything referenced indirectly.

“Today’s announcement marks a significant step forward in delivering what we’re calling contextually rich meeting notes.”

Whitcroft added: “It also demonstrates our commitment to building best-in-class technology ecosystems for financial advisers, with proper integration and connectivity between the tools that firms rely on to drive efficiency and deliver better outcomes for clients.”

Mark Powling, financial adviser at Adaurum Ltd, said: “Before, reviewing meeting transcripts meant scrolling on one screen, with my presentation on the other, to match what was being discussed with what I was showing the client.

“Now, I can see exactly what was on screen at any point, whether it’s cashflow modelling or portfolio reviews, which makes post-meeting notes much faster and clearer.

“It’s also giving my support team more to work with, saving them time and improving their understanding of the client conversation, which means better client reports, too.”
