Monzo named Best British Bank at Smart Money People’s British Bank Awards
Zopa Bank won Best Banking App and retained Best Credit Card Provider, while Leek Building Society was named Best Building Society and retained Best Specialist Mortgage Provider.
Digital bank Monzo has retained its title as Best British Bank at the British Bank Awards 2026, hosted by Smart Money People in London.
Monzo also retained the Best Children’s Financial Provider award and added Best Current Account Provider to its list of accolades, with customers praising its app functionality, budgeting tools and ease of managing money.
Zopa Bank and Leek Building Society were among the other multiple winners on the night.
Zopa Bank won Best Banking App and retained Best Credit Card Provider, while Leek Building Society was named Best Building Society and retained Best Specialist Mortgage Provider.
LHV Bank was named Best Newcomer, reflecting its expansion within the UK market, particularly across banking infrastructure and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) services.
Other winners included United Trust Bank (UTB) for Treating Customers Fairly Champion, Tembo Money for Best Mortgage Broker, and Chip for Best Cash ISA Provider.
The awards received more than 229,000 customer reviews across 29 categories over a 15-week judging period.
