Time Finance supports Shetland knitwear firm with £75k facility

Shetland-based manufacturer R.A.M Knitwear is scaling up production and diversifying its offering after securing a £75,000 asset finance facility from Time Finance.
The funding enabled the purchase of a new Shima Seiki knitting machine, allowing the business to increase output, broaden its product range and move into larger premises.
Founded by Roisin McAtamney, the company specialises in bespoke knitwear made from surplus luxury yarns, including merino wool, silk and lambswool, with a strong focus on sustainability.
The new machinery is expected to play a key role in the firm’s next phase of growth, not only boosting production capacity but also opening up an additional revenue stream through knitting workshops for locals and tourists.
The investment comes at a strategic time, ahead of the Shetland cruise season and the annual Shetland Wool Week, both of which bring increased visitor numbers to the island.
