Twenty-eight building societies have collaborated to launch The Society Sessions, a new digital event series aimed at giving mortgage brokers greater access to lenders across the mutual sector.

The free event, which follows the Building Societies Show earlier this year, will take place over three days from 14 to 16 July and feature six live sessions via Microsoft Teams.

Each session will include presentations from four or five building societies, with lenders outlining their propositions, lending criteria, product highlights and the types of cases they are best placed to support. Brokers will also have the opportunity to ask questions and earn CPD.

The sessions have been designed to provide greater flexibility, allowing brokers to register for individual sessions or attend multiple events depending on their interests and availability.

The initiative was developed after feedback from brokers who either could not attend the Building Societies Show or were unable to meet every participating lender during the event.

Dave Jackson, national account manager at Hinckley & Rugby for Intermediaries, said: “Following the Building Societies Show earlier this year, I spent time meeting with brokers across the country, and a common theme quickly emerged.

Some brokers were unable to attend because of diary commitments or travel, while others who did attend simply didn’t have enough time to speak to every society they wanted to meet.

“The Society Sessions gives brokers an easy and accessible way to hear directly from a wide range of building societies, understand what each specialises in and the types of client scenarios they can support.

“The mutual sector is built on collaboration and supporting communities, so bringing 28 building societies together for these unique digital events feels like a natural extension of that approach.”

Participating lenders include Accord Mortgages, Bath Building Society, Beverley Building Society, Buckinghamshire Building Society, Chorley Building Society, Earl Shilton Building Society, Family Building Society, Furness Building Society, Hanley Economic Building Society, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, Leek Building Society, Loughborough Building Society, Mansfield Building Society, Market Harborough Building Society, Marsden Building Society, Newbury Building Society, Nottingham Building Society, Penrith Building Society, Principality Building Society, Saffron Building Society, Scottish Building Society, Stafford Building Society, Suffolk Building Society, Teachers Building Society, The Cumberland Building Society, Tipton & Coseley Building Society, Vernon Building Society and West Bromwich Building Society.
