DPS launches Renters’ Rights Act webinar series for landlords and agents
The Deposit Protection Service has launched a free webinar series to help landlords and letting agents understand the changes introduced by the Renters' Rights Act.
The Deposit Protection Service (The DPS) has launched a free series of webinars to help landlords and letting agents prepare for the introduction of the Renters’ Rights Act.
The online sessions cover key areas of the legislation, including changes to tenancy structures, new rules on rent increases, provisions relating to pets in rented properties and the enforcement powers introduced under the Act.
The DPS said the initiative forms part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the private rented sector through education, despite the legislation not altering the way tenancy deposits are protected.
Matt Trevett, managing director at The DPS, said: “The Renters’ Rights Act is a significant piece of legislation, and these webinars are aimed at enhancing letting agents’ understanding of the changes it has introduced.
“Although the Act does not affect the protection of rental deposits, the series forms part of our long-standing commitment to supporting and educating landlords and letting agents.”
The webinars are co-hosted by Susie Crolla, managing director of The Guild of Letting & Management, who also contributed to their content.
Crolla said: “Many letting agents are still getting to grips with the Renters’ Rights Act.
“By working with The DPS we can ensure that as many letting agents and landlords as possible are able to understand what the changes will mean for them.”
