Aldermore surpasses £500m in commercial lending in latest financial year
The bank also completed an £85m facility during the period, the largest single transaction in its history.
Aldermore delivered more than £500m in new commercial real estate (CRE) lending during its last financial year, marking its strongest performance since 2019.
The bank also completed an £85m facility during the period, the largest single transaction in its history.
Aldermore said the lending growth followed a series of changes to its CRE proposition, including expanded lending criteria and investment in its specialist team and regional coverage.
Over the past year, the bank increased commercial investment lending to up to 70% loan-to-value (LTV) and residential investment lending to up to 75% LTV.
It also increased the maximum size of loans available from £3m to £100m, introduced support for 100% overseas equity structures and expanded its ability to provide bespoke funding, including ahead of stabilised occupancy.
Azfar Rizvi, commercial director for corporate and commercial lending (originations) at Aldermore, said: “Reaching £500m in Commercial Real Estate lending is a significant milestone, and one that reflects the investment we’ve made in evolving our proposition over the past year.
“We’ve listened closely to brokers and customers about what they need in a lending partner and responded with meaningful enhancements, including higher LTVs, larger loan sizes, support for overseas structures and funding ahead of stabilisation.
“Combined with a stronger team and greater regional coverage, we’re now able to support a wider range of transactions, including some of the most complex deals in the market, while continuing to deliver the speed and flexibility our broker partners expect.
“Completing our largest ever facility at £85m demonstrates the strength of this proposition and highlights the scale of our ambitions for the future.”
