Cornerstone Finance Group and Imperial Chartered have raised £11,005 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) through their sixth annual golf day.

The event, held at Radyr Golf Club in Cardiff, took the total raised by the group for the charity to £61,439.

Staff at the Cardiff-based businesses have been fundraising for MNDA since 2021, including through previous golf days, raffles, Christmas jumper days, the Cardiff Half Marathon and a 3,000 Squat Challenge.

The group is now planning further charity events with the aim of raising an additional £20,000.

The winning team comprised Imperial Chartered guests Dai Walters, Danny Egan, Sam Thomas and Leo Llewellyn, followed by Saltus Asset Management in second place and NatWest in third.

The event also included a charity auction, with Quinnell presenting the prizes.

Gareth Morgan, co-founder of the group, said: “Our annual golf day has become quite the fixture in the calendar.

“It is an opportunity to bring together colleagues and valued contacts, to spend time together outside of the office and to enjoy some friendly competition whilst raising money for a fantastic charity.

“We are so proud of the generosity of everyone who takes part and we know that their donations make a very real difference to MNDA.

“We’re incredibly grateful too to Scott Quinnell, whose enthusiasm and energy really lit up the charity auction and undoubtedly helped us reach such an outstanding total.

“This year’s golf day may now be over but we’ll keep raising funds for the charity, as well as awareness of the disease.”

The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan branch of MNDA is run by volunteers and supports people living with motor neurone disease, as well as their carers, families and friends, across Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taff.
