Third of advice professionals work over 40 hours a week, finds intelliflo
80% of respondents said technology had significantly or moderately improved their work-life balance.

Almost a third (31.5%) of financial advice professionals work more than 40 hours a week, research from intelliflo found.
Its 2026 Adviser Lifestyle Index found that those working 35 to 40 hours scored their work-life balance at 3.61 out of five, compared with 3.27 for 41 to 48 hours and 2.90 for 49 hours or more.
80% of respondents said technology had significantly or moderately improved their work-life balance.
Those reporting a significant improvement from technology gave their work-life balance an average score of 3.75, compared with 3.23 among those reporting little or no benefit.
When asked how they would use time saved through technology, 35% said they would reclaim personal time and 21% would reduce their core working hours.
A quarter would use it to grow their client base or business.
Richard Wake, chief operating officer at intelliflo, said: “The research shows that almost a third of the profession is working more than 40 hours a week, and much of that time goes on admin rather than advising clients. Technology is changing that.
“Firms that put it to work are saving hours on every client, and they can reinvest that time in their business, whether that’s serving more clients, deepening relationships or developing their teams.
“And whether advisers put those hours back into their business or their lives, the choice becomes theirs. The right technology lets them take their time back.”
