Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng is to lay out his fiscal plan on 31st October, some three weeks earlier than the initially announced date of 23rd November.
Kwarteng has been under pressure to move the date forward following criticism due to the lack of details regarding the funding of his recent mini-Budget.
In the wake of that mini-Budget the Pound fell to an all-time low against the dollar while mortgage lenders withdrew products en masse due to market volatility.
Writing to Treasury Select Committee Chairman Mel Stride, Kwarteng said: “I have previously written to inform you that an economic and fiscal forecast will be published alongside the Medium-Term Fiscal Plan on 23rd November. I have decided to bring this date forward to 31st October.”
The Treasury also confirmed that the fiscal plan would be accompanied by an independent economic forecast.
