Over half of mortgage professionals surveyed in a snap poll by The Intermediary are in favour of a General Election following the resignation of Liz Truss.
A total of 672 readers responded to yesterday evening’s poll with 56.55% saying they were in favour of a General Election.

The majority of respondents would vote Conservative in a General Election in stark contrast to national polls.
Electoral polls have Labour set for a landslide with predictions that the Conservatives could lose 200 or more seats.
Interestingly, those who voted ‘Other’ in the poll predominantly voted for the Reform Party. Had it been listed in the main section it would have returned double the percentage of the Green Party with 4.90% of the votes.

In terms of who mortgage professionals want as the next Prime Minister Rishi Sunak led the polls with 36.13% of votes.
Second, was former Prime Minister Boris Johnson with 29.68% of the votes.
The other contenders were well off the running with Penny Mordaunt coming in third with 11.61%.
Ben Wallace 4.52% and Kemi Badenoch 1.94% were the only other runners to see a significant share of the vote.
Ryan Fowler, publishing editor of The Intermediary, said: “The results of the poll make for interesting reading.
“Pollsters are predicting a landslide for Labour following the catastrophe that has been the past six weeks.
“However, despite the damage inflicted on the mortgage market by Liz Truss it appears that there is still strong Conservative support in the mortgage sector.
“Of note is the strong support for Boris Johnson. Were this to play out nationally it would be a straight contest between the former Prime Minister and his Chancellor.
“I look forward to seeing how these results compare to the actual results next week.”
