His Majesty The King officially opened the Leeds Building Society head office earlier this week, unveiling a commemorative plaque marking the building as one of the most energy efficient buildings in the region.
During his visit, he met with a range of representatives from the Leeds financial sector at the new Leeds Building Society headquarters on the first day of his trip to Yorkshire earlier this week.
His Majesty was also presented with a gold sovereign featuring a portrait of his great great great-grandmother Queen Victoria and dated 1875, the year the building society was founded.
Richard Fearon, chief executive of Leeds Building Society, said: “It was an honour to host His Majesty The King and discuss the measures our teams at Leeds Building Society, alongside other businesses and groups locally, are putting in place to support individuals and communities through these challenging times.
“As the second largest financial sector in the UK, Leeds plays an important role in promoting financial inclusion and helping with the cost-of-living crisis, and we are proud to be supporting people to manage their money.”
