Skipton International appoints two non-executive directors to its board

Graeme Smith and Justine Shaw have joined the board of Skipton International as non-executive directors.

Smith is the outgoing chief executive officer of Jersey Business, a role he has held for the past eight years.

During that time, Smith led a restructuring and resourcing of the organisation and established strong working relationships with local businesses and partners such as the Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the institute of directors.

Smith said: “I am really looking forward to working with Skipton, an organisation that prides itself on excellent customer service and its’ community responsibilities across the Channel Islands.

“These very much resonate with my own values.”

Smith joins the Guernsey-licensed bank alongside fellow new non-executive director, Justine Shaw, who is employed at Skipton Building Society as the chief people officer.

Shaw said: “I have benefitted from working alongside brilliant leaders who I learnt a lot from. The attributes they had in common was business acumen, emotional intelligence, authenticity, a lack of ego with a direct open approach.

“If I can bring even half of those attributes to my role on the board, I hope I will be adding value.”

Skipton’s Chair, Bobby Ndawula, added: “I am delighted to welcome Graeme and Justine to the board.

“With Graeme’s previous banking background, and Justine’s strategic experience, they will benefit the board and the wider business, helping us to continue to shape and grow Skipton into the future.”
