Searches for ‘UK house prices’ reach highest in five years

Searches for ‘UK house prices’ are the highest they’ve been in five years, according to new research from John Charcol.

The average price of houses in is still on the rise as 2022 saw almost all properties gain value – out of all 30 million homes, 27 million gained value.

Surprisingly, 14 million homes increased in value during the final three months of 2022 in spite of the mounting cost-of-living pressures.

In total, the value of Britain’s housing stock was £10tn last year with 92% of homeowners seeing the value of their property rise by an average of £19k.

According to recent data, the average UK house price was £295k in November 2022, which is £28,000 higher than in the previous year.

Search trends show an increased awareness of this increase, rising significantly themselves over the course of 2022 and into the start of 2023 – thus resulting in a marked increase in online searches.
