A recent survey conducted by Finbri, a bridging loan broker, found that energy costs are the number one concern for renters, surpassing rental increases.
Although rising rental costs remain a significant worry for almost 75% of UK renters, more are worried about their energy bills.
Additionally, 78.62% of renters are concerned about food costs, and 73.92% of them are concerned about increasing rent.
The survey highlights the fact that renters are experiencing financial difficulties, with energy bills being one of their primary sources of stress.
The UK Renters’ Report found that landlords are also keen to address tenants’ rising costs and concerns.
According to the survey, 48.05% of landlords plan to complete energy-performance improvements to their properties over the next 12 months.
The survey suggests that 37% of renters have reduced their energy usage to save money. Popular methods include using energy-efficient light bulbs, insulating windows and doors, switching off lights, unplugging electrical appliances, and taking shorter showers.
