Dudley Building Society donates £30k to local community causes

Dudley Building Society has recently donated £30,000 to local community causes through its re-established Community Support Fund.

The fund aims to support local charities, organisations, or individuals who are helping their communities during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

Members of the community and Dudley Building Society customers were invited to nominate deserving causes, which led to over 300 nominations and 100 suggested organisations.

Four major recipients, Leslie’s Care Packages, Brierley Hill Babybank, Black Country Food Bank, and The Haven Refuge, each received a £3,000 donation.

Brierley Hill Babybank plans to use their donation to fund essential items, such as mattresses and bottle sterilisers, and to support and upskill their workers for their upcoming family hubs concept.

The remaining £18,000 from the Community Support Fund was distributed among 21 other local organisations.

These organisations provide a variety of services, including hot meals, free food donations, pet food parcels for low-income families, support for the homeless or struggling individuals, assistance for cancer sufferers, and local environmental improvement initiatives.

Lorraine Breese-Price (pictured), Dudley’s chief operations officer, expressed her pride in supporting local community heroes.

She said: “Dudley Building Society is at the heart of our local community, so we wanted to recognise and reward those community heroes who are going above and beyond to help during the cost-of-living crisis.

“Our customers and communities have had their say and helped us to identify so many deserving causes that operate quietly and selflessly.

“We hope that the Community Support Fund donations will be a welcome and added boost to help the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in the community during these difficult times.”
