Coventry Building Society recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces

Coventry Building Society has been officially named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Place to Work for the second year running.

The Society ranked 13th out of the 57 Super Large organisations on the list revealed on Thursday, moving up the table from 17th position in 2022.

It is the highest ranked super-large organisation based in the midlands.

The award acknowledges the Society’s ongoing commitment to provide a supportive and inclusive work environment where employees can realise their full potential.

This latest achievement adds to recent accolades, having been named a 2022 UK’s Best Workplaces for Women and receiving UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing two years in a row.

The award evaluates organisations on the level of trust employees experience in their leaders, their pride in their jobs, and the extent to which they experience camaraderie with their colleagues.

Great Place to Work performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit™ submissions from leaders at each company to create the 2023 UK’s Best Workplaces™ list.

They then used these insights to benchmark the effectiveness of what a company says it offers against the culture their employees experience.

Lucy Becque, chief people officer at Coventry Building Society, said: “Every single one of us is immensely proud of this award. To have improved on last year’s position is incredible and is testament to the work we have all put in to make this a great workplace.

“There’s so much happening day-in and day-out to help make this an inclusive and inspiring place to work.

“We’re focused on empowering everyone to bring their best selves to work and to make each day enjoyable and rewarding for themselves and their colleagues.”

She added: “A happy and engaged workforce is ultimately great for our members too. And that shows in our customer satisfaction scores which consistently top the charts.

“To be named on this list for two years running means we’re clearly doing a lot of things right. But we also regularly listen to colleagues to understand how we can get even better.

“Over the last few months, we’ve looked at improving our technology in the workplace, we’ve focused on trust and inclusion, and we’ve improved our wellbeing support – these are all positive changes that can only happen by listening to colleagues.”
