National brokerage firm Just Mortgages is advocating for brokers to deepen their integration into local communities by conducting mortgage clinics.
John Phillips (pictured), the national operations director at Just Mortgages, is proactively pushing for brokers to take action in the current economic climate instead of waiting for events to unfold.
Phillips argues that given the confusion and lack of confidence prevalent in the wider market, a greater need for education and support exists.
To assist brokers in this endeavour, Just Mortgages’ marketing team has prepared a comprehensive suite of resources including literature, artwork, and social media templates. This initiative is aimed at aiding brokers in their outreach to local communities.
Phillips said: “While the market is certainly challenging at the moment, there’s no doubt that opportunities are still available for proactive brokers. We’re urging our brokers to immerse themselves in their communities to help individuals understand the market and its implications for their personal circumstances.”
Several brokers, both employed and self-employed, from Just Mortgages have reported success with their mortgage clinics.
These personalised events have taken place in various local venues including churches, village halls, hospitals, and army bases, and some have even been held during late-night hours in snooker clubs to accommodate those who work unsociable hours.
Richard Spiers, principal mortgage and protection adviser at Black and Golds Mortgages, emphasised the importance of engaging with local communities, stating: “Much of our success has been driven by the customer base in our local area. We’ve positioned ourselves as the local mortgage centre where people can drop in for friendly advice.”
In addition to marketing and outreach support, Just Mortgages also offers its brokers a wide array of training and development programmes, along with ongoing mentoring and compliance support. The firm has more than 650 advisers nationwide across its employed and self-employed divisions.
