Black & White Bridging’s head of investor relations Bret Jackson embarked on a charity challenge at the weekend, to help combat the taboo associated with baby loss.
With an average of 500 miscarriages a day in 2021, Jackson created the ‘All 5’s’ challenge, comprising of a 5km run, 500 reps – five exercises with 100 repetitions each – and a 55-minute spin.
Members of the village gym in Ashton-Under-Lyne, alongside players and coaches from the men’s and ladies’ rugby teams at Aldwinians, paid to join the spin element.
Jackson said: “Having experienced the loss of a baby earlier this year, we received tremendous support from friends, including those in the bridging sector, the rugby club and people associated.
“One couple particularly, Stephen and Rachel Morrow, created Emily’s Legacy in memory of their daughter, who was born sleeping in 2021.
“I wanted to give something back to them and the club, so devised this challenge which enabled others to join in.”
Jackson completed the 5km in 24 minutes, 500 reps in 40 minutes and after a short break, jumped on his spin bike for 55 minutes.
Having passed £500 in donations from both Black & White Bridging and the sale of spin bikes, he is now pushing to reach £1,000.
