Five-time Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds to headline AMII Health and Wellbeing Summit

Ellie Simmonds, OBE and five-time Paralympic champion swimmer, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for this year’s Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII) Health and Wellbeing Summit.

Scheduled for November 14th, 2023, at One Great George Street in London, the event promises a comprehensive exploration of key topics in the health and wellbeing industry.

Simmonds will participate in a question-and-answer session alongside Athos Rushovich, director of specialist sales at Vitality Health. Her story is expected to be a significant highlight of the summit, lending both inspiration and insight into the role of resilience and well-being.

Delegates at the summit will also benefit from a diverse range of expert perspectives. Sonya Chamberlain, vice president of corporate sales at HCA Healthcare, and Simon Butler-Manuel, consultant gynaecological oncologist at Royal Surrey County Hospital and the HCA London Bridge, are slated to delve into the emerging role of robotics in gynaecology surgery.

The future of cancer care will be another focus at the summit. A panel discussion led by Claire Ginnelly, AMII executive vice chair, will feature contributions from industry leaders such as Tim Woodman, medical director, policy and cancer services at Bupa; Dr John Burke, chief medical officer at AXA Health; and Professor Wille Hamilton, professor of primary care diagnostics at the University of Exeter and chief medical officer at The Exeter.

The conversation will extend to neurodiversity, with Melanie Francis FCIPD, director of neurodiversity at DO-IT Solutions Ltd, speaking on the topic. Francis has a wealth of experience in the field since founding Neuroinclusive HR in 2021.

Dave Middleton, executive chairman of AMII, commented on the significance of this year’s summit. “We are delighted to have secured Ellie as a keynote speaker this year and we are very much looking forward to her sharing her story with delegates,” he said. “Our diverse range of industry-leading speakers will be able to provide insight into a range of topics affecting the health and wellbeing sector right now.”

This marks the nineteenth annual event for AMII, continuing its tradition of bringing together health and wellbeing professionals to share expertise, network, and explore innovative solutions for the industry.
