OSB Group, the specialist lender and savings bank, marked the first anniversary of its employee engagement networks as it coincided with the National Day for Staff Networks on May 8th. The networks, named Our Community, Our Planet, and Our Diversity, include 74 colleagues who play a crucial role in implementing the group’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
The networks have developed a plan of action for 2024 to enhance employee involvement in ESG initiatives, under the campaign #RaisingTheBar. Our Community network encourages participation in volunteer days and manages a fund to support employees’ chosen community groups or charities.
Our Planet network focuses on promoting sustainable practices among colleagues, both at work and in personal life. Victoria Tipper, senior test analyst at OSB Group and member of Our Planet, shared her experience: “Being a part of the Our Planet community has been a real eye opener as we have been learning about how much we as an employee in the business and as a person outside of work are impacting our carbon footprint. We have been using this information to inspire our colleagues to take small steps to make more eco-friendly changes in their work and home life.”
Neil Richardson, chief sustainability officer at OSB Group, emphasised the networks’ role in promoting inclusive and environmentally respectful work environments. “These employee engagement networks provide a collaborative approach to make sure the environments where we work and operate are inclusive, respectful of the environment and supports local communities,” he said.
