Accord Mortgages has started a podcast series called ‘Mortgage Mentors’ to support broker best practice, featuring interviews with figures from intermediary networks, lenders, media outlets and trade bodies.
Jeremy Duncombe, managing director of Accord Mortgages, hosts the series.
The first episode featured Ben Thompson, deputy chief executive of the Mortgage Advice Bureau.
Thompson discussed the current challenges and opportunities for brokers and how they have adapted to recent market changes.
Thompson shared his personal story and advice for brokers, including the need to invest in technology, build business partnerships, and ensure their businesses can withstand future challenges.
He acknowledged the changes artificial intelligence (AI) will bring and how it has the potential to boost efficiency.
Thompson said: “We’ve seen over the last few years, so much turbulence that the strength of advice, the need for advice, is paramount. It’s a real opportunity.”
The second podcast featured Esther Dijkstra, managing director of intermediaries at Lloyds Banking Group.
Dijkstra discussed her career journey and views on the evolving mortgage market.
Dijkstra talked about the need for industry professionals to stay ahead of trends and embrace innovation to meet the changing needs of clients.
Dijkstra said: “And it’s really important to stay on top of trends, and you know, innovation in our sector to actually help our clients.”
Duncombe said: “This new series builds on something I feel very strongly about – leaders sharing their stories and experiences to give something back to the industry and support their colleagues and contacts – who would perhaps like to follow in their footsteps.
“Look out for more big-name guests in the coming months.”
“The Growth Series was launched to support brokers with their personal development as well as to help them to grow their business through hints and tips on everything from marketing to compliance, and we’re really proud of how we’re evolving it to really maximise the value it provides.”
