Shepherds Friendly has appointed Oliver Laird (pictured) as non-executive director.
His appointment comes as Shepherds Friendly embarks on a period of growth and development as it prepares for its bicentennial in 2026.
With over 20 years across the retail, financial services and manufacturing sectors, Laird brings a wealth of experience to Shepherds Friendly’s board of directors.
His career highlights include serving as chief financial officer at Lookers PLC and First Direct Bank, director of central finance at Lloyds Banking Group, and finance director of Co-Op Insurance Services.
Laird has an impressive non-executive portfolio, holding positions in both mutual and public organisations, including Beverley Building Society, Vanquis Bank and Paysafe.
Laird said: “I’m pleased to be joining Shepherds Friendly as it approaches its bicentennial.
“It’s an exciting time to be part of this organisation and help guide it as it evolves to meet the needs of today’s members whilst staying true to its mutual values.”
Mark Myers, chair of Shepherds Friendly, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Oliver to our board.
“Any new non-executive directors are selected carefully based on their values and experience. With his extensive knowledge and passion for our culture and members, Oliver is a valuable addition to our team.”
