Simplify has shown its support for mental health and wellbeing by committing to the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC).
As part of this commitment, Dev Malle (pictured), Simplify’s chief business development officer, will be joining Jason Berry, co-founder of the MIMHC and group sales director at Crystal Specialist Finance, to take part in the Walk and Talk challenge in May, aligning with Mental Health Awareness Week.
The event will see Jason and Dev walk the entire 141-mile length of the Grand Union Canal over the course of six days.
During the challenge, colleagues from the mortgage industry will join the pair on specific days, walking and talking for up to 25 miles per day, raising awareness of mental health challenges within the industry and encouraging open conversations around wellbeing.
The MIMHC initiative is designed to promote awareness, understanding and active support for mental health within the mortgage and property industries.
It focuses on providing businesses with a framework to ensure their employees receive the right support when they need it, fostering an open culture where mental health is prioritised alongside business objectives.
Key principles of the charter include ensuring access to professional support, fostering a workplace culture where mental health conversations are encouraged, and promoting best practices in mental health awareness and management.
Suzanne Easby, chief people officer at Simplify, said: “The conveyancing industry can be incredibly demanding, particularly during peak periods such as the run-up to the stamp duty exemption deadline, where conveyancers will be under great pressure to complete transactions within tight, and possibly even unrealistic, timeframes.
“Signing up to the charter provided us with a valuable opportunity to review the support we offer to our colleagues and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that everyone at Simplify knows they can access wellbeing support when they need it.”
Berry added: “It’s fantastic to welcome Simplify as a Signatory of MIMHC.
“As a market leader in the conveyancing sector, their commitment to this initiative highlights the growing recognition of mental wellbeing across the wider property industry.
“I’m truly encouraged by the increasing support we’re receiving from key players in the sector, reinforcing the importance of prioritising mental health.
“I’m also looking forward to connecting with Dev in May as we take on our Walk and Talk challenge together, continuing to drive awareness and meaningful conversations around mental wellbeing.”
