Weston Group launches division to focus on Build-to-Rent sector

Weston Group has launched Weston Partnerships, a division aimed at delivering housing solutions through development partnerships and joint ventures across the Build-to-Rent (BTR), local authority, Ministry of Defence (MoD) and broader housing sectors.

The initiative forms part of the group’s wider expansion strategy and complements its existing activity in affordable and market-sale housing through Weston Homes.

The division will collaborate with funds managing BTR portfolios, local authorities, student accommodation providers, retirement housebuilders, and businesses requiring modern methods of construction (MMC) components, supported by the manufacturing arm, British Offsite.

Weston Partnerships aims to apply the group’s expertise in new-build, conversion, and offsite delivery to create scalable, sustainable housing.

Led by development director Steve Hatton, Weston Partnerships will operate under the strategic oversight of Weston group CEO Peter Gore and chair Bob Weston.

The division has secured key agreements across multiple sectors as part of its initial pipeline.

In the BTR sector, Weston Partnerships partnered with Royal London Asset Management to deliver 411 homes across two developments – Bracknell Beeches and Town Quay, Barking – with construction led by Weston Homes.

For local authority housing, the division is working with Barking and Dagenham Council, via its regeneration arm Be First, to provide affordable homes on a ‘turn-key’ basis at Town Quay in Barking.

The division is also delivering MMC solutions through British Offsite, including a collaboration with Elkins Construction across three sites using the UniSystemLB product.

British Offsite’s technology will also feature in a student accommodation scheme at Orchard Park, Cambridge, in partnership with Vertex Living.

Hatton said: “I am delighted to lead Weston Partnerships which is part of the group’s expansion into the Build-to-Rent, local authority housing, retirement and student accommodation sectors, amongst other parts of the housing industry.

“Our priority is to work closely with our partners to help accelerate housing delivery, improve affordability, drive MMC innovation and uphold the highest construction standards.

“Through this expansion we are well positioned to make a meaningful impact on the future delivery of housing.”

Gore added: “Whilst the group will continue to operate within the Build-to-Sell sector via our core Weston Homes division, the housebuilding industry has changed dramatically over the last few years and it is important for us to expand and create new income streams for the business.

“The Build-to-Rent, local authority and some of the other deals we have already secured have the advantage of being forward funded providing an upfront income stream which is highly advantageous for our cash flow and financial strength.”

Weston said: “By harnessing our industry experience and British Offsite’s advanced construction technology, we can build more efficiently and at greater scale.

“This initiative reinforces our dedication to delivering sustainable communities while strengthening our partnerships across the housing sector.”

Weston Group’s business structure now comprises six divisions: Weston Homes (housebuilding), British Offsite (offsite manufacturing), Weston Business Centres (serviced offices), Stansted Environmental Services (environmental consultancy), Weston Logistics (plant hire and warehousing), and the newly launched Weston Partnerships.
