The Interview… Mark Game, sales director at conveybuddy

Mark Game, sales director at conveybuddy, discusses his role, the company’s 2025 initiatives, its commitment to transparency and quality, and how it differentiates itself in the current market.

What does your role involve?

My role is incredibly varied, and that’s one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. In essence, I’m responsible for driving sales activity and bringing in business to meet – and hopefully exceed – our targets.

There’s a clear strategy behind everything we do, with a focus on approaching new accounts, developing potential key accounts, and working closely with our existing brokers to help them generate even more business.

A big part of my day-to-day work is nurturing long-term relationships with larger businesses, helping to underpin the monthly instructions that fuel our growth.

Alongside managing my own accounts, I also support both our office-based and field sales teams, assisting them with account development and ensuring they have the tools and guidance needed to succeed.

What initiatives can we expect to see from conveybuddy in 2025?

Our biggest initiative for 2025 is to continue building market share through our transparent and competitively-priced portal. We’re heavily investing in technology to ensure our portal remains the smoothest, quickest, and most intuitive platform for introducers to use when instructing conveyancing.

In addition to technological enhancements, we’ll be growing both our team and our panel of law firms – but with a focus on quality rather than quantity.

It’s about ensuring we’re giving brokers and their clients the best possible experience, every single time.

How does conveybuddy differentiate itself from competitors?

Transparency is at the heart of everything we do. We’ve worked hard to remove the ‘hidden extras’ that are unfortunately still too common in the market.

We believe in offering a fair deal to the end user and avoiding the trap of high referral fees that offer little value to the broker or client.

Our independence sets us apart. Every law firm on our panel is recommended based on service alone. We have no ties to corporate owners or law firm shareholders, and that independence means brokers can trust conveybuddy to act with integrity.

Can you share more about your approach to working with brokers?

Our approach is built entirely on service.

We work hand-in-hand with brokers to ensure their clients receive the very best conveyancing support. That includes helping brokers select the right law firm for each individual case and offering ongoing support throughout the process.

Ultimately, brokers can trust us to make them look good in front of their clients.

What trends are you currently seeing in the market?

The conveyancing market is definitely trying to evolve, but many processes and systems remain outdated.

Encouragingly, there’s a growing movement to ensure law firms are paid fairly for their work, rather than being driven down on price by panel managers looking to boost their own fees.

At conveybuddy, we’ve taken a firm stand on this. We believe in taking a fair fee – and that’s enough. When referral fees exceed what the law firm itself earns, it raises serious ethical questions.

We’re proud to be part of the solution, not the problem.

How is conveybuddy expanding its partnerships?

We’re continuously enhancing our panel, but only with law firms that add real value and depth to what we already have.

We don’t want a sprawling panel; instead, we focus on building an elite, select group of law firms that share our objectives and values.

We’re also strengthening our work with our three charity partners. We’re excited about bringing the fantastic work they do to the attention of our broker network and continuing to make giving back part of our business DNA.

Finally, how do you unwind when you’re not working?

It’s not always easy to switch off, but a good work-life balance is essential.

Outside of work, it’s all about family time and travel – I love city breaks and holidays with loved ones. And of course, the odd game of golf and a nice dinner out are always on the agenda.
