L&G launches Spark app for health and wellbeing services

L&G has launched Spark in partnership with Spectrum.Life, a single sign-on app designed to help businesses grow, by helping their people thrive.

Accessible via phone, laptop or desktop, Spark brings together all L&G’s health and wellbeing services – which includes some new ones – under one roof, extending them to entire workforces and their immediate families.

It has been created to make preventative health and wellbeing simple, personalised and inclusive, says L&G.

Spark allows for access to all the preventative services associated with L&G’s Group Life, Group Income Protection and Group Critical Illness products.

The app also includes guided navigation via an intelligent booking system (MatchTech).

The services available include: 24/7 in-the-moment support through the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), 24/7 access to a General Practitioner (GP) or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Online Physiotherapy (8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday), Children’s and young people’s mental health assessments and support, Second Medical Opinion on a diagnosis or treatment and support with long-term conditions like type 2 diabetes, stroke, multiple sclerosis, long covid, and rheumatoid arthritis.

The app also provides help with nutrition planning, fitness tracking, self-guided meditation, wellbeing podcasts and digital gym, as well as access to adult and elder care and financial and legal information.

James Walker, head of product and proposition – group protection at L&G, said: “I’m excited to introduce Spark to the market. It’s an incredibly slick and comprehensive one-stop-shop that uses the latest user journey guidance technology to get people to the service they need, fast and effectively.

“Thanks to Spark, we can now extend our amazing prevention and early intervention support – plus some valuable new ones – to workforces and their immediate families.

“This will bring positive benefits to everyone. For individuals, helping empower them to further manage their own health and wellbeing.

“For employers, helping reduce absence and presenteeism while improving satisfaction. For government, helping support latest Keep Britain Working goals. And for society, in terms of fair access to essential support – improving health outcomes and reducing pressure on public health services.”

Stephen Costello, CEO and co-founder, at Spectrum.Life, added: We’re not just improving access to healthcare – we are rebuilding it for the way people live and work today.

“Partnering with L&G on the launch of Spark is very exciting for us. Through Spark we are transforming the way employees – where their employer has an L&G Group Protection policy – access mental health and primary care services and get instant access to trusted clinical support, making high-quality care just a click away.”

He added: “Together, we integrate preventative healthcare directly into protection benefits, guided by our intelligent MatchTech booking engine to ensure people can reach the right support faster.

“Our Virtual Primary Care Platform empowers employees to take control of their health while helping employers strengthen culture, improve retention, and futureproof their benefits.

“As a second-generation digital health provider, our focus is on combining clinical excellence, innovation, and smart technology to change – and ultimately save – lives. This partnership represents a bold leap toward a more connected, accessible future of workplace wellbeing.”
