The Housing Network gains B Corp status for ethical and sustainable practices

The Housing Network has achieved B Corp accreditation for its work providing housing and support for people experiencing homelessness.

The accreditation, given by non-profit B Lab, recognises firms meeting high standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

The Housing Network partners with public bodies, including local authorities and the Ministry of Justice, as well as landlords, to offer safe, fully furnished homes and support for vulnerable people across the country.

To become a B Corp, the business was assessed on governance, staff engagement, impact on the community, environmental practices and customer care, and had to score at least 80 out of 200 points.

The company also made legal changes to embed purpose in how it operates.

The audit covered everything from staff support and supply chains to relationships with landlords and public bodies.

The process reviewed its focus on safe homes, data-driven support and environmental commitments.

Gary Teper, managing director at The Housing Network, said: “Becoming a B Corp reflects our belief that the housing and support solutions we provide are about more than about bricks and mortar, it is about delivering homes with dignity and providing support so people can rebuild their lives.

“This certification shows our commitment to doing better for residents and partners, and to continuously improving our social and environmental impact.”

Chris Turner, executive director at B Lab UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Housing Network to the B Corp community.

“This is a movement of companies that are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good.

“We know that The Housing Network is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
