Apex Housing Association has secured a £35m revolving credit facility from Danske Bank to help build modern, energy-efficient homes across Northern Ireland.
The funding, arranged with support from Sensus Financial Advisory Ltd, will back Apex’s plans to build all new homes to at least Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ‘A’ rating from 2024.
The association is also working to upgrade over 90% of its existing homes to at least EPC ‘C’.
Roderick Canning (pictured, left), executive director of finance & resources at Apex, said: “Securing this facility from Danske Bank significantly strengthens our financing framework and will help us build more new homes across Northern Ireland.
“It reinforces our commitment to providing safe, energy-efficient, and sustainable homes for our communities.”
Apex’s ‘More than Housing’ plan for 2023-2026 sets out five priorities focused on building sustainable communities, delivering high-quality homes, supporting vulnerable tenants, running an efficient organisation, and developing skilled staff.
The strategy aims to tackle fuel poverty and increase tenant engagement.
Claire McKeown (pictured, right), corporate relationship manager at Danske Bank, said: “We are delighted to provide this significant financial package to Apex to support them in the development of new energy efficient homes and investment in its existing housing.
“Danske Bank has been a lead provider of finance to the social housing sector in Northern Ireland for many years and we want to continue to help the sector to thrive and meet the needs of people across Northern Ireland.
“This funding underscores our commitment to sustainable development and supporting communities across Northern Ireland.”
