The Cambridge Building Society Community Fund won ‘Best Charity Partnership of the Year’ at the MoneyAge Awards 2025.
The award recognised the society’s partnerships with local charities to tackle housing insecurity and support people across the East of England.
Now in its 175th year, The Cambridge pledged to donate £175,000 a year from profits to local causes, focusing on housing and financial wellbeing.
Last year, the society donated over £100,000 to charities working on housing and shelter challenges.
In January, The Cambridge marked its anniversary by awarding a three-year grant of £50,000 per year to The Angels Foundation.
The society was also shortlisted for Building Society of the Year, Mortgage Provider of the Year, and Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the MoneyAge Awards.
Carole Charter (pictured), chief commercial officer at The Cambridge, said: “This award is a fantastic recognition of the Community Fund and the real difference it’s making across our region.
“We’re proud to work alongside local charities doing such vital work to help more people have a place to call home.”
So far this year, The Cambridge has given £65,414 to nine charities working on issues in the region.
These organisations include Cambridge Carbon Footprint, Cambridge Cyrenians, Citizens Advice Rural Cambs, Turtle Dove Cambridge CIC, Cambridge Women’s Aid, Cambridge and District Citizens Advice, The Sick Children’s Trust, Making Space and Wintercomfort.
Applications for the fund are open until 1st November and can be made twice a year through the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
Katie Robinson, community engagement officer at The Cambridge, said: “Being recognised as Best Charity Partnership of the Year means so much to us.
“The Cambridge Building Society Community Fund is a vital part of how we make a difference – giving a helping hand to those who need it most.
“This award celebrates what’s possible when we work side by side with our community partners to improve access to shelter and housing.”
