Stonewater and Mount Green appoint new board chairs

Stonewater and Mount Green Housing Association, part of the Stonewater Group, have announced board changes.

Mount Green has appointed Heather Bowman as chair of Mount Green’s board after Martin Large retired at the end of September.

Large led the common board of Greenoak and Mount Green since 2024 and was previously chair of the Greenoak board from 2019.

Bowman brings over 35 years’ experience in social housing and related sectors.

She is on the Stonewater board and was chief operating officer at Sovereign Housing.

Bowman said: “I’m honoured to take on the role of Chair at Mount Green at such a pivotal time.

“This is an organisation with a strong sense of purpose and a deep commitment to providing high-quality, affordable homes where individuals and families can flourish.

“I look forward to working with my fellow board members and colleagues across Mount Green and Stonewater to build on the strong foundations already in place to support the communities we serve.”

Stonewater has also named Nicola Webber as chair of its risk and assurance committee, following Andrew Lawrence’s departure.

Webber is a chartered accountant with experience in corporate finance, private equity and investment management.

She is a portfolio non-executive director and has chaired audit, risk and finance committees.

Webber said: “I’m delighted to be stepping into the role of Chair of the Risk and Assurance Committee at Stonewater.

“Strong governance and effective risk management are essential to delivering our mission, especially as we expand our efforts to meet the government’s 1.5m homes target.

“I look forward to working closely with the board and Stonewater’s Chief Officer Group to carry forward our mission and values.”

Jonathan Layzell, chief executive at Stonewater, said: “Everyone at Stonewater and Mount Green extends their best wishes to Heather and Nicola as they begin their new roles.

“We also offer sincere thanks to Martin and Andrew for their valuable contributions.

“As chair, Martin provided thoughtful leadership during a time of significant change and transition for the two organisations. His dedication and commitment have left a lasting impact.”
