Gatehouse Bank partners with Young Enterprise to boost financial education

Gatehouse Bank has announced a new three-year partnership with Young Enterprise, a UK charity focused on improving financial and enterprise education for young people.

The collaboration aims to equip students with the skills, confidence and understanding needed to manage their money and make informed financial decisions.

As part of the partnership, Gatehouse Bank will work with three schools located near its offices through the Young Enterprise Centres of Excellence programme.

The initiative will see bank colleagues engage directly with students and teachers, contributing to classroom sessions and helping develop a bespoke financial education resource that incorporates Islamic finance.

In the final year of the programme, trained Gatehouse colleagues will help deliver the new resource to schools, embedding long-term learning and engagement.

The initiative supports Gatehouse Bank’s commitment to the UN Principles for Responsible Banking and forms a key part of its broader ESG strategy.

The bank has already met its goal of increasing its proportion of savings customers aged 18 to 30 from 3% in 2021 to 10% by the end of 2025.

Charles Haresnape, CEO of Gatehouse Bank, said the partnership aligns with the bank’s mission to improve financial confidence and awareness.

He added: “This week marks Talk Money Week, an important reminder of the need to advance financial education and inclusion.

“Our partnership with Young Enterprise is an exciting opportunity to help young people gain confidence in managing their finances and to introduce Islamic finance concepts early on.

“By doing so, we can help break down misconceptions and ensure more people are able to choose products that align with their values and needs.”

Sarah Porretta, CEO of Young Enterprise, said: “We are delighted to be working with Gatehouse Bank, an organisation that shares our belief in the power of financial education.

“By connecting with local schools and drawing on the expertise of Gatehouse colleagues, this partnership will help young people develop essential skills in teamwork, problem-solving and money management that will serve them throughout their lives.”
