Tipton & Coseley Building Society supports Black Country Foodbank for a third year

Black Country Foodbank has received a £12,000 donation from The Tipton & Coseley Building Society as part of its ongoing partnership with the charity, which is entering its third year.

The contribution comes ahead of one of the foodbank’s busiest periods.

The Tipton presented the donation during a visit to the foodbank’s Brierley Hill warehouse.

Since 2023, the society has pledged annual donations and provided volunteer support, helping to sort, check, and label food items.

Over the past three years, it has donated a total of £36,000 and introduced food collection points at each of its four branches.

Founded in 2006, Black Country Foodbank provides food and essential items to people in crisis across Dudley, Sandwell, and Walsall.

The organisation operates 28 distribution centres from its base in Brierley Hill.

Jen Coleman, CEO at Black Country Foodbank, said: “Financial donations are crucial to us. They mean we can replenish supplies, keep our vehicles running, heat and light our premises and look after our volunteers.

“Receiving regular payments, such as those kindly provided by the Tipton, also helps us budget and plan for the future.

“This is particularly important as we approach winter, which brings its own set of challenges like higher energy bills. Many individuals and families struggle to afford even basic necessities, placing considerable demand on our foodbanks and resources.”

Adam Evetts, chief executive at The Tipton, added: “Black Country Foodbank is a lifeline for those who find themselves in a position where they can’t buy the food they need every week.

“We’re proud to support the incredible work the foodbank does and we know it’s a cause our colleagues and customers care about too.

“We also value the opportunity to spend time volunteering with the charity, learning more about their services and seeing for ourselves how our donations make a difference.”
