Skipton Building Society hosted a special Armistice Day Service on Tuesday 11th November to honour the service of the Armed Forces community.
The event took place at the society’s Bailey head office, which was illuminated in tribute to those who have served and continue to serve in the military.
The service featured contributions from Skipton colleagues including Gwyn Burr, chair of the board; Stuart Haire, group chief executive; David Travis, group general counsel and company secretary; and Bobby Sharp, security lead.
A procession followed, leading attendees outside for a poignant light show and musical tribute, performed by a bugler.
The event reaffirmed Skipton’s ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces, following the society’s recognition earlier this year with the Gold Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
The award celebrates Skipton’s support for veterans, reservists, and military families, and its active role in mentoring organisations such as Delkia through the Armed Forces Covenant.
Gwyn Burr, chair of the board at Skipton Group, said: “As an organisation, Skipton Building Society recognises the unique skills and experiences that veterans and reservists bring to the workplace.
“Their leadership, resilience and teamwork enrich our culture and strengthen our performance. That’s why we are committed to being a forces-friendly employer, not just in words, but in action.
“We continue to build pathways for veterans to thrive in civilian careers, and we actively support reservists in balancing their dual roles.
“We are proud to stand alongside our Armed Forces community through the Armed Forces Covenant — a promise that those who serve, and their families, will be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and workplaces they are part of.”
