Savills secures approval for 211-home scheme in Croydon

Savills planning received unanimous approval from the London Borough of Croydon for a new residential scheme in Waddon.

The application was made for Hyde Development Group and will deliver 211 homes, with 35% classed as affordable housing.

Two community spaces are also included.

Over 40% of homes will have three bedrooms or more, targeting family housing needs in the area.

The planning committee backed the scheme, supporting the delivery of affordable homes in Croydon.

Savills planning spent a year working with stakeholders, including the Greater London Authority, Transport for London, elected members, the mayor, and the local community.

The heritage team and environment and infrastructure team were involved, covering archaeology, townscape and health impact assessment.

Diana Thomson, director in the planning team at Savills, said: “We are pleased to have successfully steered this scheme through the planning process.

“It will benefit the local community by delivering affordable housing and community spaces.

“We’re proud to have worked alongside Hyde Development Group to strengthen their presence in the local area.”

Thomson added: “The scheme complements their neighbouring project to the south, which is set to deliver 100% affordable housing within the same residential allocation.”
