Weston Homes wins Housebuilder of the Year at 2025 WhatHouse? Awards

Weston Homes won Housebuilder of the Year at the 2025 WhatHouse? Awards, along with Gold Awards for Best Medium Housebuilder, Best Energy Efficient Home, Best Starter Home Scheme, and a Silver for Best Sustainable Development.

The awards event was attended by 1,200 industry professionals.

Judges recognised Weston Homes for its work in land acquisition, build-to-rent agreements totalling over £200m, and its British Offsite operations.

The company has a target to reach carbon net zero by 2040.

Weston Homes was awarded Gold for Best Medium Housebuilder for its approach to customer service and training.

Judges noted delivery across a range of sites, including heritage restoration work, and highlighted the company’s use of British Offsite and UNisystem for construction and energy efficiency.

The Gold Award for Best Starter Home was given for the Abbey Quay development in Barking. Judges said Abbey Quay offered low entry costs, high-quality finishes and customer service to first-time buyers, and praised the sales team and communal spaces.

Gold for Best Energy Efficient Home and Silver for Best Sustainable Development were awarded for the Thornwood Park development in Epping.

The Hawthorn, a five-bedroom home at Thornwood Park, was recognised for features including solar panels, air source heat pumps, EV charging points and battery storage.

Judges noted the airtight construction, high insulation levels, and the ability to store and use PV-generated electricity.

Across Thornwood Park, judges recognised Weston Homes’ construction methods, integration of energy-saving technologies, and delivery of affordable homes.

Judges also highlighted the community orchard and new parkland at the site.

Bob Weston, chairman and founder of Weston Homes, said: “I have never lost my enthusiasm for homebuilding, whether it’s renovating older properties or building new.

“Nor have I forgotten how big a step and how much sacrifice is involved in saving for a new home.

“Which is why this family business will always look after buyers, finding ways to ensure they get as much pleasure as possible from their home and by making them accessible to as many people as possible.”

Weston added: “Customers are our number one priority. Our reputation and ability to keep building homes rests with satisfying them completely.”

Suzanne Aplin, group sales & marketing director of Weston Homes, said: “Winning House Builder of the Year, alongside our additional gold and silver awards, is an extraordinary moment for everyone at Weston Homes.

“We pour so much passion and care into every development, so it’s truly fantastic to have that work recognised, from our focus on sustainable, energy-efficient homes to the ways we support first-time buyers in taking their first step onto the property ladder.

“These accolades reflect the dedication of our entire team and the pride we take in creating places that genuinely improve people’s lives.”

Aplin added: “We’re honoured, grateful and more motivated than ever to keep raising the bar.”
