Rightmove and Octopus Energy partner to help home movers find greener properties

Octopus Energy has partnered with Rightmove to make it easier for people across the UK to find and move into greener homes.

Rightmove data showed a 46% increase in property listings mentioning heat pumps and a 37% rise in those referencing solar panels over the past year.

Research from Octopus Energy found nine in 10 homeowners with heat pumps were glad they switched, and 94% said their homes were as comfortable or more comfortable than before.

Octopus Energy and Rightmove will roll out new tools and information to show how low carbon technology can cut bills and boost property value.

The first step is a Zero Bills label on Rightmove listings, which lets developers highlight homes powered by Octopus Energy’s Zero Bills smart tariff.

Zero Bills is a tariff that guarantees no home energy bills for five to 10 years in properties with a heat pump, battery and solar panels.

Rightmove data showed home-movers switching from a typical UK home with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band D rating to an Octopus Zero Bills property could save over £2,350 a year on energy bills.

Greg Jackson, founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, said: “Most people now know someone benefitting from a cost slashing electric car, and savvy homeowners are starting to search for houses with solar panels and heat pumps too.

“We’re delighted to team up with Rightmove to help their home-movers spot the greener homes of the future.”

Johan Svanstrom, CEO of Rightmove, said: “Helping home-movers navigate to a greener future is a priority for Rightmove, and we provide many forms of information for homes-related sustainability.

“We’re excited to partner with Octopus Energy to unlock more opportunities, and drive both awareness and adoption.

“We’re starting by highlighting Octopus Energy’s innovative energy saving product with a label on applicable new homes listings on our platform.”
